After starting, my 1996 EFI will bog down as I'm attempting to take off. I sometimes have to take it out of gear, rev it up, and it may/may not take off. When I do get it running it does fine although I can sometimes feel it hesitating. This is an intermittent problem and has been in the shop 4 times in the last couple of months. The fuel pump was replaced (needed) on the first repair trip, the fuel/water separator canister was cut open the last trip and I was told there was very little debris. The other night I made a 1 mile run, shut it down. After about an hour of fishing it would NOT restart. Sounded like it was not trying to fire at all. The next morning it started right up. It has now begun to shut off while running. The last time this happened one of the two voltage regulators was bad. The computer shuts off to protect itself from spikes, I believe. Not sure the two problems are related. Plugs are around 8 months old, wires appear good.

I know this sounds like a rant, but I'm a bit frustrated. Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated, along with a good mechanic contact in the central Arkansas area.

I am having very similar problems with my 97 225 efi, although mine does not shut off by itself. I wish I had some advise for you but I am in the same boat and in need of advise as well. I hope someone has an answer or at least some realistic advise. Good luck and if you figure it out let us know what you found.:D
