1996 3 cyl 35hp Jornson - are powerpacks known to be faulty?

I have a 35 hp 3cyl oil mixed Johnson 2 stroke, I have had an eletrical problem where the boats runs for a period then when it warms up it cuts out and there is no spark, wait a five minute or more and it will start up. I had a friend do a little testing and he beleives it is the powerpack. I replaced the powerpack about 6 years ago are they know to go bad? Can they go bad if the engine overheats? Has there been a recall on them? Or could be something with the stator?

no known problems, yes heat does effect them. 6 years is not bad.

Do you recommend any websites to buy this part? I noticed that buying on line will save me $60-$70 dollars (Quoted $385 from local marina?s) on the part less shipping. I never bought parts on line and could use the name of a reputable seller.
