Hi there, I just got me a freshly rebuilt motor thats oil injected. I was wondering what I can do to get rid of the oil injection. Since my last motor burned up due to failure of the oil pump, I just dont trust em no more. So if one of you guys out there could give me some advice as to how to disconnect the oil injector, that would be great and give me piece of mind.

Thanks, Markus

Someone will be along soon to tell you how to disable the injection. I'm more familiar with the OMC VRO disabling. If you don't get the responce you need, start a new post titled something like, How to disable oil injection on Mariner?.

Haven't tried this but saw it in one of the forums here.

Put premix in the main tank and in the oil tank. Leave the oil injection system connected. Whatever the system does, your engine gets premix.

Seemed reasonable and a safe & easy way out if you're not really sure what to do.

Comments anyone?

I put premix in my oil res ('96 75hp mariner 3cyl) and it made the low oil sensor go off (very annoying)... not sure if it is because the oil is now thinner? Sensor could be unplugged, but advise to get a service manual and complete disassemble.

Re: 1996 90 Hp Mariner

I just got done disabling the Oil pump on my 94 75hp mariner. Got info from a long time marine mech. Said do not just let the reservoir run dry and mix your own in the main tank. The oil pump will still drive(until it burns up) and while it is, it will be putting some amount of air into the fuel feed. Told me to take off the pump linkage, pull the pump, pull the spacer and the drive shaft. Put it all back together without the drive shaft or linkage. Plan to remove the 'Y' and check valve from the fuel line in the future. I like the idea of just putting mixed gas in the main tank and the oil reservoir however for an easy solution. Pulling that damn oil pump was not a treat.
