A simple way it to fuse it by wire size. Fuse`s, are there to protect the wire not the device. You can safely fuse it by the wire size with out knowing what its hooked to. Most boats use 16 or 14 ga and you can get by with a lot lower amp fuses than the wire size ratings. When I re wired mine i used all 14 ga and put 10 amp in all of them with the exception of the fish finder thats a 3 amp and a power socket and thats 10 ga with a 30 amp for a air pump or what ever you need 12 v for. I put in a 14 circuit panel and only use 7, but i loaded the panel with fuses just so I would have spares at hand if needed.

18 ga 5 amps
16 ga 10 amps
14 ga 15 amps
12 ga 20 amps
