Howdy folds….when I got some parts for my 40HP, the guy gave me a carb from a 70HP force. It sure looks exactly the same. I would need to use the float and bowl from my 40HP.

I know that I can swap the 50HP carb and it will make my motor a 50HP, but what about using this 70HP? Would this carb make any kind of positive difference?

Thanks in advance

Go for it.----Sounds like an opportunity for instant power upgrade.

But you won't get 70hp.
The bore & stroke of the cylinders is the same but the 70 has 3 cylinders--a 50% increase in displacement.

I would assume you'll need to rejet that carb for your reduced airflow.

There is a huge mis-understanding on carburetors.----It seems it is the first item that folks pick on to start trouble shooting.----And the carburetor upgrade theory will not go away.-----No wonder that fuel injection is so popular !

So you were being sarcastic with your advice in post #2?

There has been a great number of posts about the 9.9/15hp carb swap. That might be a special case but it's probably responsible for unrealistic expectations.

The pay is not very good here.-----Sometimes the " fun grade " is important !----Finished a boat repair yesterday .----Owner brought case of liquid in cans as a huge token of appreciation.
