I have a 1996 Force 75 outboard. Water does not flush out of the motor from the top of the engine. I have checked the tube and it is not clogged. Any ideas? Where is the thermostat and where is the water pump. How can I tell if either of these is the problem. Any pictures you have would help.

Thanks

Pop off the motors hood and directly over the plugs on the head you'll see a small retangular box with a hose coming out of it. It is held in place with 4 screws. Remove those screws and the T-stat is held in there with a spring. Remove T-stat noting which end is facing towards you. Put T-stat in pot of water and turn on heat. You'll see it open if it is good, if not, replace T-stat.
Also, check that small hose, should not be clogged. Reassemble.
Water pump impleller is in lower unit, should be changed yearly on these motors. You'll need a manual as the procedure is too lenghty to explain but is fairly simple. Try your local library for a copy.
