1996 force 75hp,how good are these

i am looking at a spectrum 17ft pro aventure with a 75hp force motor,and need to make a fast decision,motor has been taken care of,but any coments would be appreciated,ao email me ,jim at jimmyt1953@earthlink.net

This was one of Mercury's own designs...Single carb..3 cyl...not one of the most powerful engines on the market compared to other 75's...rather small gearcase...does not provide alot of lift. I would rather see a 75 Force on a 16 Ft boat not a 17.<br /><br />I would like to add though...I have not seen many of them for repair...just normal visits for gearoil and waterpumps.<br /><br />TMD

If you do a search here, you will find very few posts about problems with them. Most here are for 1991 or older models. And almost none are for 1996 75 hp. A quick scan of some of the posts shows that most of them were for basic problems, such as fuel, sparkplug, or use questions.
