Just wondering if anybody can help me figure this out? Boat was running good for most part of day then all of sudden felt as if motor was missing alittle, so i went to let off throttle to idle when motor shut off and would not fire. Checked to see if had spark and very little to none is visable. I was told by a boat guy that my problem was my trigger assembly. Ive changed that and nope that wasnt it still same thing. I had him check dva output from stator and there was 300 something. although resistance should be 600-700 ohm , there is only 124.9 ohms . Im thinking maybe stator bad but not sure. Im not to confident in the mechanic that dignosed it to be the trigger

I wouldn't trust that mechanic either. Especially when he diagnosed the trigger, with the stator reading that far off in resistance.

124.9 ohms means that the stator is toast. Did you disconnect the stator connections from the wiring harness to check? If so then it is definitely bad. If not, disconnect them and measure again.

Re: 1996 force 90hp wont start

The resistance reading on the stator indicates that some of the windings have probably shorted together. Even though the DVA meter indicates that the voltage output is correct, I would still suspect the stator before the trigger because of the stator resistance readings. The DVA readings are dependent on several different variables and may not be as good an indicator as the resistance readings. In this case, the symptoms (weak spark at plugs, I assume all 4), out of tolerance stator resistance readings, swapped trigger w/no change in symptoms, I'm pretty sure that you'll find the stator is your problem.
