I just took a gamble on a 1996 Johnson 25hp for $50 and found that the lower unit is locked up.
The rest of the motor seems to be in decent shape. There is minor rust on the fly wheel and the amateur assembly in the starter motor seems to be pretty rusted.
I don't have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to outboards but I'd like to kind of make a project out of this to learn.
What year lower units are compatible with the 1996 model?
