Hi all. I’m new hear but after having a look round I’m hoping someone can help me please. I bought a boat with this engine on it and just wanted to know if the smoke is normal before I put it in the water. I can’t seem to upload the video but hopefully a like to YouTube will work. Thanks in advance

Facts for you.-----It is a 2 stroke engine and therefor some smoke is normal.------You do not have enuff water in your test bucket.------The oil mixing unit and oil tank should taken off and thrown away.----Mix gas and oil at 50:1 ratio !

Welcome aboard.

You should have a knowledgeable person check out the transom. Metal wrapped around it tells me it's rotted and the motor may fall off. Your new boat may not be all that safe.

Thanks for the replies. I’m used to 2 stroke bikes and understand abit of smoke is good I just thought it was a little much that’s why I thought I would ask here. An my next question was about the oil auto lube as was thinking of removing it but now I will after your advice thanks. I was wondering about that metal plate. If the transom is rotted can it be replaced? Thanks again

Replacing a transom can be done.-------Some boats can be done from the inside.----Some from the outside.------I have a transome repair on the go now.-----Action Marine 17-----No more garbage plywood in the transom when I am done.-----No more wood in the floor.------Composite materials / West system epoxy / Carbon fiber / Kevlar are the way to go for me.

The use of synthetic oil will cut smoking a lot. Also more protection for old outboards and I believe will save an overheated outboard from destruction due to overheating as this has been my experience, though some will disagree.
