1996 Johnson Trim/tilt

Hi New to forum. I own a 1996 Johnson Ocean Pro and the tilt will go down but not up. When I engage switch I hear a click but it will not move. Is there a soleniod that could be bad or is it a motor issue?

No solenoids John but there are two relays. One for up and one for down. That's what you hear clicking. Find the two relays on the component rack and swap them around. They just pull out of the socket. If the problem reverses, go up but not down, bad relay. These are available from your local John/Rude dealer.<br /><br />Let us know what ya' find.

I believe on that Ocean Pro the relays are up on top just above and behind the air silencer on the port side. 2 black cubes about twice the size of normal dice.

Thanks to all, swapped relays and the it reversed the problem.
