1996 johnson venom 200

it was running great, 1st thing was it would not go in reverse so i had to take it back to mechanic to put a new foot on, before i did i changed the stator out to get tach working , he told me they took it out on the lake and it run good, when i got it back the starboard bank would not fire, i was told to put a power pack on, i did, got 1 and 3 firing but not 5, so i bought a new power pack, same thing,all cylinder firing except 5. iv changed the coil from a working side, changed the plug wire, still nothing, but i move the orange wire down to from 3 to 5 and it hits. i ended up leaving it there and moving 5 orange/green wire to 3 now they all hit, but when i take it to the river, it will not go over 2500 rpm. the stator does have some small leakage, i am lost on what to do to this engine, any help would be appreciated

Orange / green stripe goes to 5 or 6.----Orange / blue stripe goes to 1 or 2.----You can not install them randomly.

i know that, but the mechanic i was talking to told me to try the way i did to prove if coils were working. even so it does not explain the problem i am getting.
