1996 merc 30hp 2 stroke

will crank up run a few seconds then die, crank back up then die, will do this every time run a couple of secs then die.
new fuel pump, new carb kit, new gas tank and hose.
not sure where to look next

Compression test is next. And make sure the fuel pump is pumping.

compression is good, how can I check fuel pump if it wont run? doesn't it work off of vacuum from the motor while running?

Motor should run longer than a few seconds of fuel in the bowl.--------Checked for water in your fuel ?

Take the hose between the carb and fuel pump off, either end. Crank the motor over and the gas should squirt out of the hose or fuel pump outlet.

finally got a chance to remove the "out" hose from the fuel pump, just as you suspected no fuel being pumped and that is with a new fuel pump kit installed, what could be wrong?
