1996 Merc. 40 hp

I have a 40 hp 2 cycle 4 clinder outboard with the manual "assisted" power lift. The assist on this does not work and I am having a hard time finding parts. When I cross over the S/N it shows up as 2 cylinder motor not a 4 cylinder. Any help as to repairs or obtaining the correct parts manual would be a help.<br />Thanks

This looks exactly like it. Any suggestions as to what the problem is? It worked fine and quit working suddenly. I see that ref. # 10 is a repair kit of a check valve ?<br />Thanks
