Hello,

I removed the ECM and found it sealed inside a metal casing and filled with red sealant, almost like hard jello. How do I rinse off all that sealant and also refill the casing? I'm troubleshooting a running issue that two different shops have been unable to resolve. The next recommended step is to pull the ECM and send it out for a refurn, however I want to try a few things myself before taking that step, which basically means I'm going to electrowash the circuit board and reheat all solder joints possible.

Thanks for your input!

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... My guess is,.....

You'll destroy the Ecm, while tryin' to remove the epoxy sealant,......

If you find a place that refurbs ECMs, they will want a core. An unmolested core. If you use a repair and return service, they want an unmolested ECM or it will be returned as unrepairable and charge you for testing.

Leave it alone or toss it in the trash.

Can anyone recommend an ECM shop where I can purchase a replacement? I've already attempted removal and consider it "molested", stupid move on my part. DAH!
