Hi,
Recently purchased a 96 hydra sport 1900 w/ 96 ocean runner 150. Boat came with no key, so I am yet to take a closer look into the issue. motor is trimmed all the way down but has trim buttons on cowling, I was wondering if this should trim the motor up without a key in the ignition (fresh battery reading 12v). I can hear solenoid clicking when I hit the button but that is about it.

Also, is getting a replacement key an issue or can it just be ordered online?

I appreciate any feedback

what you ear are the up and down relays likely. The selenoid needs the key to be energized.

T&T should operate up and down from the cowl buttons. Dealers have keys... the switch face may have small numbers printed ex:74 identyfying which key you need

Trim should work without ignition key, at both the engine and control.

A lot of those motors have the ign key in the dashboard. They would be simple to change.

If you have the key in the control, it might have a key number on it. A dealer could get you a key. Not sure if they are avail online.

Trim works at both locations w/o key.

The number is printed on the key. Since you don’t have the key you’ll need to replace the switch.

Thank you,

I got 2 new relays so im hoping that will fix the problem. I cleaned off the old ones and got the trim to work a little bit before they fully burnt out.

Regarding the key, Will the key number be located somewhere on the ignition switch if I removed it?

I believe the key would be series 96 but unsure the exact following #Screen Shot 2022-02-28 at 11.41.23 PM.png

I have no idea.
My switch was worn out. Key would fall out. Just replaced the switch with new.

Finally got a chance to take a look at it today. I got it trimmed up enough to be able to tow it to my house. But the trim is now not moving in either direction. I can hear the trim motor whirring like its trying to move but the motor is staying put.
any ideas?

PTT units take Dextron auto trans fluid. Of course the OEM sells PTT fluid for it as well.

Make sure the trim pivots are greased. Your motor will have two zerc fittings.

You need to help the motor trim by hand, Using both your hands and PTT motor)until it is all the way up. Now use the manual lock or a 2X6 to block the motor up. Remove the PTT unit fill plug, with the boat level, and fill the unit.

Now run her down and up and refill the unit, giving a couple of minutes for the bubbles to dissipate. Repeat until smooth operation.
