Sea Arrow 1996 penta 5.0 fl. Thats what it says on the valve cover. Engine was replaced a couple years ago ($3500) I assume with a rebuild but who knows what. One freeze plug was sitting below the engine. I replace the plug with a rubber one to make sure the block wasn't cracked and ran it. No leaks. It is the plug under the engine block right behind the fuel pump (front left). I had to shave about 30% off the thickness of the plug to slip It under the engine mount. I thought about removing the engine mount in order to put the a brass plug in but I was warned that it may twist the out drive and cause damage. Any suggestions will welcomed. Thanks Stan

Why not just leave the rubber expansion plug in there ? I had a freeze plug leak on a fresh rebuild on my 65 Pontiac 389, was a freeze plug behind the flywheel looks like it had a casting ridge in the hole. Its been in there over 25 years now hasnt leaked .
