1996 Rinker Captiva 212 - Rear Seat Support

1996 Rinker Captiva 212 has rear seats that sit between the motor cover and sides of the boat. They sit on top of a plastic piece. I wanna replace these with a nice piece of hardwood and anchor them alittle better. Any advice on types of wood and ways to sturdy these up. I attached a picture of said item. This is a image from google. The speakers are not under my seats.

those are screwed into the plywood side panel. most likely you will need to pull the side panel and assess. you may need to fix rot.

If they're loose I agree that further investigation on what's going on behind the panel is warranted. Two best woods for boats are Mahogany and Teak. White oak works well to. They ALL should be well coated with sealer and Marine Varnish to ensure no water penetration occurs.
