1997 115hp Johnson fuel pump will not pull fuel

Hoping someone can help us understand why the fuel pump will not draw fuel. This is the 3rd fuel pump we have tried and can't believe all 3 were/are defective. It seems to pull oil but not fuel. We have replaced lines, pulse limiter, fuel bowls and more. help!

Is the primer bulb getting firm when you squeeze it?

Yes and we replaced that also

Test run with a 6 gallon portable tank that you know is good.

Some models have a vapor pump and a vapor separator. The Vapor pump may be rebuilt. The vapor separator needs a good seal on it's cover, and the inlet needle and seat need to be in working order.

What model motor do you have?

I believe we replaced the diaphragm on the vapor pump. I'm not sure about the inlet needle. Model J115GLEUC THANKS

Is this a permanent tank? The fuel pickup tube goes bad.

you are drawing air somewhere. Backtrack it all the way to the bottom of the tank.
