Hi guys, I have a question about my buddie's merc. Last week we were out fishing and on the way in the motor quit for about 1 or 2 seconds & then came back to life. It did this twice but otherwise ran well. No overheating, good water pressure. When we got back to the dock it stalled and now we can't get it to start. It will crank and crank but won't start. We took the cowl off and looked around. The fuel hose right after the inline filter was split & pissing all over the motor, a water hose had a hole that was also pissing all over the motor. We fixed these issues but it still won't start. Any thoughts??? Thanks!!!

Do a compersion check! When you pull the plugs, look for bits of aluminum on them. May have injested enough air to lean out the engine, maybe momentarily seized.

Replace all the fuel lines, from the tank to the carbs.

pulled the plugs, no aluminum on them & they were a bit wet, oil & gas. i will do the compression test tonight hopefully. Just pull all plugs & do 1 cylinder at a time? I read something about needing to ground the plugs?

If you have a kill switch, just unplug it.
