1997 200HP Johnson L/U

I just bought a used boat that has this motor on it J200STLEUB 1997 the lower unit has a pin hole on the top of the lower unit a little water comes out of it but it looks like it was make like that does anyone know"i haven't had this motor started yet myself but just got it back from a marine shop that did a full PM on it and ran it on a dino"

will it hurt anything if I plug it I don't want any water mixing with L/U oil

The gear box is sealed. The hole is there for a reason ... to drain the midsection when the motor is out of the water. Plug it and there's a good chance of freeze damage if you keep the boat in a cold climate location in the winter.
