I have a 97 Sunbird with VP 3.0 GS/SX. Was going fine today, but suddenly power started to cut out. I let it idle (idled ok), and pulled the engine cover. I then noticed water gushing on top of alternator and flooding engine compartment. I shut off engine and ran bilge pump to clear the water. Once doing that I felt around and noticed that there is a 1.25" hole (feels threaded) toward front of intake manifold on bottom.

I looked up info on this forum, however wanted to be sure of the part before I ordered. It appears as though this is called a "core plug", and just threads in?

Also, any idea why it would have came out? Boat was winterized by previous owner last year, and haven't had any problem like this before.

Thanks a bunch.

What you have is a threaded plug, if it did not leak before, the plug should be laying in the bilge. Or thereabouts. Find it,re-install it and run it. The PO probbally took it out for winterising, and forgot to tighten it.

Look in the bilge?
Could be a 1/8in pipe plug or could be a freeze/core plug?
Look in there and see if the threads are rusted?
If so use a thread chaser before you put it back in.
If it's the freeze plug? They make a rubber expandable plug you can just screw in.
