Got it for $10 this morning. Locked up tight. I squirted some oil in the spark plug opening and had to go in to work.

Looks like it may have spent some time under water but I'm not 100% sure of that. Maybe 80% sure though. Appears to be all there.

How much do you think a rebuild would be on this little devil? I've been looking for one for my 8ft Bass Hunter but am worried if a rebuild isn't worth it and if I could find something cheaper.

That thing is destroyed on the inside. I've seen spun rod bearings and holes in the side of blocks but I have never seen a sealed motor be completely rusted on the inside.

Parts are so high and there is so much that needs to be replaced that I think parting it out is probably my best bet.

This is quite a bit off topic, but I am going to St Augustine here in a couple of weeks. Anything you can tell me about it or suggest? Any good foshing in there that I can do with my 8ft Bass Hunter?

I would have to agree with TASHASDADDY... on this one. Only way to really tell is to dive into it! Remove the block, head, go in through the crankcase plate (usually can tell at this point), inspect the crank & disconnect.

Each and every "lockup" is different amoungst its self. If the pistons are just frozen, lay the block so the pistons are up, LIGHTLY torch the top of the pistons, just to bring warmth the rings, then squirt with penetrant. Allow a good overnight sit and see if you can tap them out gently with a wooden mallet.

If all else fails, throw it in a box and I'll give you $15 for it!

you know i have never fished the St Augustine area. but there are many back inlets, small bays, marsh off the intercoastal, and matanzas river. there has to be good fishing there. there is also Guana Lake, which is north St. Aug, on A1A. down load Google Earth, and look up St.A. you will see the tributaries, etc. there are also some good Fishing Party Boats out of there, for off shore fishing.

I took it apart last night and everything inside the crank case is rusted. Blows my mind to be honest with you. After checking out parts prices and seeing how impossible it is to find used parts for the motor, the economical thing to do is buy something that is running for a couple hundred dollars.

Anyways, I will be parting the thing out on Ebay like tashasdaddy mentioned. There are some good parts there still.
