1997 40 HP Yamaha Oil warning light

My motor runs fine. But a yellow light on tach comes on even when the oil is full. This light always comes on and my friend said I should find out if something is wrong. No alarm beep or anything else comes on. What should I check ? Thank You. Thank You for your help.

hello<br /> buy a service manual and an ohmeter and test the float switch in the tank. yellow indicates the resevoir is low, red means its out and its time to quit. or there is another system malfunction but first is to test the float switch.
