1997 40hp mariner 4 cylinder 2 stroke

Hi guys, I found a motor for sale and I am very interested in it, but I can't find out very much information on it! It a 1997 40hp mariner 4 cylinder 2 stroke! I am wondering what are these motors like! What is the gear ratio, what are the cubic cm's, are they a mercury motor or a Yamaha, can they go fast, and are they a detuned motor? And is there any mods i can do to get more hp out of it? Thanks

It's a 44 cu.in. mercury the earliest one was the Mark 55A built in 1959 till the 40hp built thru 2000 rated as hih as 50HP and raced in APBA as a stock D engine and also runs in D Mod so with the money or know how, yes they can modified but not really practical to do on a fishing engine
