Hi,
I just purchased a used boat with a 1997 Force Outboard. The boat had no guages so I am adding them. I have all the wires neatly tucked behind the contol box but I have no clue as to what wire serves what function. I am assuming the wire conector with the pins is for the tach. I am trying to install a Volt Meter: Trim Guage: Tach All wired to function when the motor is running.

If anybody has any diagrams or can just tell me what colors are for what use, I would appriciate it.

I personally wouldn't rely on wire color alone. I have a manual with different wire colors than what is in my boat. What I did was trace each wire and wrote it down for reference later.

Volt meter: Pos(+) goes to ignition wire from the key switch. Neg(-) to the negitive terminal on the battery.

Tachometer: Pos(+) goes to ignition wire from the key switch. Neg(-) to the negitive terminal on the battery. Signal teminal connects to one of the two AC wirecoming from the stator and going into your rectifier/voltage regulator.

Trim/Tilt: I have no idea.

I recommend adding block temp gauge.

Hope this helped.

I have looked for a temp sensor for the motor but have been unable to find one. Any online suggestions for the sending unit and guage.

Thanks
Don
