Kicker application w/electric start. Pulled the boat out of winter storage and will not start. Always winterize w/fuel stabilizer and never had a problem. Engine cranks over, has spark (new plugs) but does not fire. I think it may be the choke solenid.

Checked the circuit and get voltage to solenoid when cranking. Applied 12V to solenoid and doesn't move so think it is bad. Unfortunately, I cannot find a replacement, p/n 827473T, anywhere.

How is the choke system supposed to work?

Last year I noticed the engine would not stop when I turned off the ignition key. It would run for a few seconds and then stop. Could this be related to my problem?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

ive recently discovered that if you google this part number it appears to be that some dealerships still have this avaliable in stock, but cannot order another so if they still have one you can get it

Re: 1997 9.9 Merc 4-stroke choke

I have a 1996 9.9 long shaft model 9.9MLA4ST and I have found that if the part is not available from Mercury, it might be available from Yamaha since that is a Yamaha built motor. My 9.9 is a manual start tiller and the comparable Yamaha model is a T9.9MLHU. For your electric start the model might be something like T9.9Exxx

Should be worth a shot.
