I am buying a 1997 Quantum fish n ski. It has a 1997 Mercury 120 Force engine. The boat starts up fine, but when in neutral, it sometimes dies. The owner told me that it just need to get the idle tuned-up and an overall tune-up of the engine.
When in neutral and you give it some gas, it will stay running. When in neutral and not getting fed, it dies. Is there anything I should worry about before I buy it?

Thanks.

By the sounds of it. Its just idling too slow, or the low speed jets are set wrong.

Might need the carbs pulled and rebuilt or cleaned.

TMD

Check the primer bulb! A smell leak can cause it to stall. When it stalls check and see if the bulb is soft. Or when it starts to die squeeze the bulb and see if it fixes the problem. A $20 bulb might save you a big repair bill.
