Good day. I do most of the easy maintenance on my OB's but not qualified for repairs. After carburator adjustment I can let this motor idle in a barrel for hours. Once on the river and running it WOT for some time and running idle for trolling it will sometimes react as if it's running out of gas and stall, unless I am fast enough at giving it some throttle increase. Almost looks like no sparks but it will keep on running if I give it a bit of gas.
I dont have instruments to go by specs so perhaps I am having run to slow at idle ?? donno opinions welcome. Also I understand there is a micro screen filter at the end of the gas line just prior to the gas pump and it has never been removed and cleaned, so perhaps got dirt blocking part of it. Do I just need to unscrew the bolt at the end of the gas line to get to that micro-screen ? Should I take right out and run engine without it ?
And if I open the gas pump (3 screws) is there a filter in there ? and do I need to replace the gaskets if I open it up ?
Many questions but probably related to same problem. LOL Tx

There is a filter in line. Change that.Wallyworld G2-2 or G-12
The screen???
There is a screen(actually2) in the fuel recirc system. It's possible it's clogged?
Go through the system, change the filter, the hoses and clean the pump.
The pickup in the tank "might" be clogged. But if it's running wide open??thats probably not the problem.
The rpm's while running should be about 750-800 to keep it from stalling.
