My lift motor is good, but the pump right below is leaking. Can you buy a kit to rebuilt the pump? If you can Where? If it is not rebuiltable where can I buy a pump to replace mine? Thanks for any help.

If the pump is leaking at the joint where the reservoir and motor bolt to it, there is a goofy shaped gasket that can be replaced---but I don't know if it is still available at your Mercury dealer.

BTW: I am reasonably certaint that those four bolts are metric.

yeah, the bolts are metric. If you have access to a cheap stock of SS bolts then this is a great place to put in a socket head bolt.

There were two types of motors. One had a round seal and one had a goofy shaped kind of square-ish seal. If memory serves me correctly, the round seal is just a regular -038 that you can get from any hydraulic shop. Viton is kind of expensive but won't melt if your hydraulic fluid is contaminated with any additives. Buna is factory original. In a pinch you can use small dabs of rubber cement to hold a round oring into the squareish shape. However, every new motor should come with an appropriate seal and anybody qualified to rebuild a pump/motor should have shelves full of new gaskets and orings. So .... if the problem is a leak between reservoir base and manifold ... then .. there is probably something else going on as well.
