No they didn't come standard with a fuel/water separating filter system. Or at least I've never seen them on any boats that I've worked on. I do add them to mine. Great insurance with the bunk gas that we get today. Jerry is a smart man, he's taught me a lot.

Some of the older and all the new I/O's and later outboards come with a water/sep filter setup installed someplace on the motor.
My 225 Mercury has a tiny one($16 ) in the fuel system.

I had one for my 88'85's and when I repowered with the Mercury I just changed the fittings and use it as added insurance.
