1997 Four Winns 220 Horizon - rotted floor and stringers

I picked up last fall a 1997 Four Winns 220 Horizon, as my first boat. Mechanically the boat is good, but I knew it had a soft spot on the deck by the ski locker cutout.

I've already removed the deck, and found the stringers under that part of the deck also starting to rot. I cut back the stringers and the deck until I reached solid wood. Thanks to all the info on this forum, I cleanup up, ground down, made new stringers out of marine grade ply, wrapped them in 1708, installed them, refoamed the areas where I removed foam, and have the new deck mostly now in place.

Lots of work, and I'm very itchy...

Wife looked at the work I was doing yesterday, and asked "would you do this again knowing what you are getting into?"... I responded with "Yes, for the right boat". She then asked "Is this the right boat?"... and my answer was "NO" ;)

Regardless, I have a question I am hoping someone here can help with. I am removing the carpeting on the deck of the boat, but not on the side walls inside the boat. I am going to tuff coat the deck. However, I haven't found a good product in white to make a nice transition from the deck to the carpeted sides. I found this, but it is only in black, and would really prefer it to be in white:

Anyone know of a good product in white to do the transition? Much thanks!

Here it is when I bought it:

This is not fair. . . We need to see pictures of the restoration. :)

Did you have the resto work in another thread?

So now that I've ponied up this awful picture of my boat... anyone know of a product I can use to transition from the wall carpet to the floor paint?

Ok, so let's get some progress pictures uploaded... here was my first look at what I was dealing with, just after pulling out the seats and the front carpet section

Next up was to cut back the area around the ski locker until I found solid wood:

This was my first "OH NO..." moment... seeing the tops of both stringers delaminated, looking like this:

I ended up cutting out the stringers down to the hull, more of the deck going forward, and the foam around the stringers. This picture is after all that is done, and the new stringers of marine grade ply, soaked in polyester resin mixed with acetone, have been bedded in:

What you can't see in this picture (because I totally cut it out of the way so I'd have space to work), is the 2" diameter run of PVC that all the wires were inside of... See the red sawzall on the right, and the large black cord coming out the bottom left of it.... you guessed it, that is the main bundle of wires that go from the dash to the engine. I sawzall'd through the pvc pipe and the wire bundle... in TWO places. That was my second big "OH NO..."

In this picture I have already filleted in with peanut butter the stringers, tabbed the bottom of both sides with 1708 biaxial cloth, and am now wrapping up and over the top of the stringers and down to the hull with another layer of 1708:

So after finishing on the stringers, I made new deck pieces. I decided since I wasn't going to cover the floor in carpet again, I would not make the cover over the gas tank removable. However, I did want access to the gas tank sender, so I reinforced with 2 extra layers of 1708 under where you see the routed out recess for an access cover. I made the supports out of a 2x6" piece of IPE wood, the deck out of 1/2 marine grade ply. Marine ply was soaked in polyester resin and acetone again, and completely wrapped (top, bottom, and sides) with 1708 biaxial cloth.

In the above picture, peanut butter was used to fill the gaps between the new and old panels.

Here I have layed out chopped strand to feather the edges between old and new:

Here it is after the resin has been applied, dried, and then the entire floor and sides where carpet used to be sanded and all carpet adhesive removed (I don't ever want to remove old carpet adhesive again...)

I decided to finish the floor with Tuff Coat in white, here it is after priming (with their primer) and the first coat down:

I have a 1996 four winns 190 and getting ready to replace the floor, most of the wood is rotten. How far did you take the wood under the fiberglass on the bow of the boat? I looked in the floor storage and the wood looks rotten all the way to the front of the boat. I was curious how I would be able to replace the wood all the way to the bow.
