1997 Horizon RX - Running new speaker wire

As the heading might suggest, I am looking to run new speaker wire from the head unit to the speakers located at each stern seat. I have removed the starboard bow seat back and see that all the wiring goes down under the deck in a PVC looking pipe. I am not sure where this comes out however. I can feel that the speaker wire goes up and around some loops in the rear but I can't feel or see where they go. Can anyone please tell me where the wires are running under the deck (hull area) so that I might be able to snake some new wire back through there?

Thanks

I'd pickup on some color codes and then go to the transom area and look around for them. The tubes vent near the transom in the same general location as they started....in the bilge or under the gunwales. Some mfgrs just mold the PVC into the flotation foam and a piece of PVC is a piece of PVC. No reason for it not to be straight....given a slow bend for bow flare in some instances.

I might give that a try. I ended up checking my wires and it seems it was just a miswire at the head unit that was just replaced. All seems well now but I might try new wire one of these days if it keeps up.

Thanks for replying

Can you cut the wire at the speaker, securely attach the new wire to it with tape, then go to the head unit and pull the old wire out since it will carry the new wire through with it?

That's the age-old electricians technique and it works well. Just make sure the new and old wires are securely attached to each other. If they separate during the pull you then have an issue that maybe only a "snake" will help with.
