1997 Johnson 200 Hp Ocean Pro water pump issue

hey guys my model # is J200TXEUA
Im replacing the water pump and noticed that under the cup in the housing is a grove and a hole. I think the hole is the air bleed hole. does a o-ring go in this grove? I pulled the cup out of the old housing and no o-ring. So I looked at parts diagram on line and it shows a o-ring between the cup and the housing. Has anyone have any input on this?

Yes, there should be an o-ring there. Make sure that you don’t get any adhesive/sealant in the bleed hole

Is this o-ring a square lipped?

A factory repair kit would have instructions.----I would be careful BEFORE deciding to put an o-ring there.-----Where did your parts come from ??

it was a Sierra kit.
