Got to the ramp the other day and couldnt get her to fire up. Found that i had no spark getting to my spark plugs. I have read alot of previous posts on what to look at when no spark, but had one question. When we got it home, we got a spark on the first crank, then nothing after that. Kinda sounds like a short or something to me, can you all give me any tips on where to start looking? Thanks for any help.

We were unable to test the power pack, but got no resistance when checking the coil, and are hoping that is the problem. Going to try to get the local boat shop to test the power pack for us and see if it is good.

Thanks for the help guys.

Well the boat shop wouldnt test it for us, and they didnt have the coil. Our only boat shop is horrible. We found a coil and are going to try a new on but it wont be hear till monday. Sure hope that is the problem, but it just seems too easy to be the case knowing my luck.

Another question, i took the VRO off this motor a while ago and had someone tell me I need to change to different spark plugs. Is this true?

i run champion QL77JC4 gapped at .030, in all my 50 hp motors, w/ the oil side disconnected.

did you try unplugging the harness to the control and jumping the solenoid?
