1997 Johnson/Evinrude 2 cylinder 3 hp and 4 hp

Are these motors the same as older lightwins of the same horsepower? It appears the ignition is different than my '67 Evinrude 3 hp. Is it a better system? Thanks.

The block looks the same.----Those newer motors are full of ball and needle bearings.-----So nothing interchanges I think.
