hi guys was wondering what you guys thought about these motors its a 1997 johnson spl outboard and it has a bad piston do you think it is worth rebuilding

Depends on how much damage is done to it and how much money you want to spend?

Is the cylinder damaged, the one with the bad piston?

they say no cylinder damage that a ring broke and put a hole in the piston which i know is possible cuz i have a 115 mercury inline that broke a ring and only beat up the combustion chamber a little but did no damage to the cylinder
