Hello from Chicago!!! I currently have a 1997 Marine/Mercury Tracker Pro 60. Over the last two seasons I have noticed the compresion dropping on all cyliders. The engine runs great, but I want to be proactive rather than reactive. So I went ahead and used a flexable borescope camera to inspect the pistons and cylider walls. The pistons have some carbon build up, but not much. The cylider walls do not have any damage/scoring. However, they are pretty shiny. I have a couple questions regarding what I should replace. Since the pistons look good, should I replace just the rings? Or, shoud I replace the pistons too. Also, with the cylider walls being shiny, should I do a fast hoaning to create the cross pattern?

Fatzbullet, I rebuilt the carbs and fuel pump in April of this year and have always maintaned this engine very well. I'll give Quickleen a shot. Should I gain some compression after using it? I just thought that replacing the rings and or pistons would be proactive. And thanks for the response!
