I have a 1997 mariner 25 2 stroke that will spin just fine, but will not crank. It did this a couple of weeks ago so I took it to the shop. But when they took it back to take a look, it fired right up for them. They then went thru and checked everything just to ensure they squeezed every penny they could out but found nothing wrong anywhere. Anyway, the motor started and ran fine after that until it sat from This Past Thursday to Monday. It now won't start again? I've already gotten new carb, impeller, prop, and spark plugs. Any thoughts on whAt it might be? so I can atleast give the guys at the shop an idea of what to check out for me. It's the middle of duck season and I'm
About at my witt's end with this thing.

"Bust out another thousand" is proving itself way too true. But to answer your question yea it's gettin gas and the plugs are firing. The shop gave it a clean bill of health less than 2 weeks ago.. Less than 1 hour of runtime since then.

Ayuh,.... I take it you do None of any work on it yerself,....

IF it's gettin' gas, 'n spark,... It'll run...

As it takes 4 things for a motor to Run,... Fuel, Fire, Compression, 'n all at the right Time...

That said, I really doubt the motor has lost all compression, 'n I doubt the timing reset itself...

Fixin' things starts with Diagnosin' the Problem...
If ya don't Check what's missin',...
I guess haulin' it to a shop is yer only alternative...

My 1st guess is, it's either not gettin' good gas, or it's gettin' too much gas,...
But,...
That's for You to check...

I wouldn't be askin if I hadn't exhausted every option I could think of. 110 lbs on both cylinders. I reckon I'll check on the fuel situation. But I'm tellin you the entire carb kit is brand new and I have run it dry after every use

Proper starting procedure? did they use your tank and fuel lines? Why do you run it dry after every use? pump the bulb and choke.

Open the tank vent and choke the engine. Then pump the bulb till it,s hard then pump harder untill you sure. Then turn it over till it wants to start. Now release the choke. Pump it up again and turn it over, and after it starts adjust the mixture screws until it runs the best. Turn it out a 1/4 turn more to allow for fuel flow when gassin it up.. Is this new Carb you bought brand new? Or is it just another replacement carb? Try shooting some fuel mixture from a spray bottle into the carb throat to see if it fires up.
