1997 merc 60hp bigfoot bogs down

I have a mercury bigfoot on a 24 foot pontoon. The motor seems to work fine until it warms up. After .5-1 hour of opperating the motor bogs down when the RPMs reach 2500. It runs fine below tis RPM. We have had the boat in to two seperate marina and they could not find anything wrong with the motor. Any ideas on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

Fuel tank vent comes to mind or anti siphon valve. Is this engine on a permanent fuel tank?If so try a portable and see if things clear up.

we tried a portable tank last summer and this did not correct the problem.. Someone suggested replacing sending unit might help, but this did not help either. We also replaced existing fuel line and added an inline fuel filter to cattch any debris that may have been in the gas tank.

I assume all is well with the cooling system, etc. When it bogs, do you still have good spark? Did the shop(s) check out the carbs and ignition? Sounds like it only has trouble under load. Any more detailed info on symptoms may help.

Spin of that in line filter. Dump the fuel thats in it in a clean pan.If you see alot of water contamination,that contamination was there before you installed the filter and may be causing your problems.

Hey guys , thanks for the info. I just returned form the shop again and they decided that the moroons that set the motor up , set the motor to low and the spray from the toons were entering the motor housing and flooding the lower carb. Raising the motor seems to correct the problem.

I have the same problem with my pontoon. What is the correct position of the outboard for a pontoon boat?
