1997 mercury won't start

Started fine this morning, started about 7 more times during the day. Then went to go home and wouldn't start. Has New plugs, New gas, and good compression. Thank you for any info. Marilyn philamarie@inter-linc.net

Welcome to iboats.com, Marilyn.<br />Does it turn-over ok?<br />all engines need three things to run.<br />Fuel,fire and resperation (or bve able to breathe).<br />First step is to test for fuel. Take a spray bottle with fuel mix in it, and spray it directly into the carb, and try it. If it sputters, or briefly runs, your problem is in the delivery of fuel.<br /><br />Next, check for spark on all cylinders.<br />If the park is there, run a compression test. It will reveal any problems with respiration.
