Several weeks ago motor overheated. Took it to service - replaced water pump & impeller, bellows & spark plugs. Took it out last weekend & ran for about 15 minutes. Got up to temperature (about 170) - then shut off to relax for awhile. Tried to start about an hour later - nothing. Took it to service - said it was hydrolocked with water in cylinder #8. I just paid $900.00 for parts & labor on all of the other issues - what could be worst case scenario with this hydro-lock? Service noted that best case scenario would be blown head gaskets.

Any ideas or positive comments would be appreciated.

The best case scenario would be that the engine dieseled when you shut it off and it sucked water into the cylinders. Pull the plugs and crank it over to get the water out, get it running then start doing some testing.
Pressurizing the cooling system after plugging the hoses going to the manifolds will tell you if you have a cooling system leak. Could be a faulty riser to manifold gasket leak or maybe manifolds or risers.
Could also be to many people/too much weight in the back of the boat for a minute and water entered the exhaust manifold.
