I had the carbs replaced and it was running well and would idle around 1200 rpm. But, now (4 trips later) it idles at 2100 or so...

Does anybody have any idea why and how I can adjust it myself without bringing it back to the shop?

I took the cover off while I was in the water and manually pushed back on the throttle lever and it would go back to what I would consider normal for a few seconds before it would work its way back up to around 2100 or so.

The only thing I have done between the time it idled fine and the time it idled high was..

Change the fuel filter, Oil/filter,lower unit lube. Would that make a difference?

Thanks, in advance for any advice.

Gary

P.S. I want to take it fishing tomorrow but I don't want to hurt the motor. Do you guys think it will be ok to run it this way for a trip or two? Thanks again.

Someone on the TexasFishingForum told me it was probably my throttle cable and I should try adjusting it. Does anyone have any other advise?

Thanks,

the F50 idle speed in nuetral is 750 RPM plus or minus 50 RPM so it wasnt running right when you got it back and shifting at that speed CAN damage the lower unit.
take it back to whoever did the carbs and have the link and sync redone correctly this time.
without a 700 dollar tool, or its equivalent you simply CANNOT properly adjust the carbs after installation.
have the tech show you the manometer he is using and the service manual.
manometer needs to have a least 4 channels.

Ok, will do, thanks for the reply. I will try to observe what they are doing so that way I can get more familiar with the motor.
