I have a 1998 175 Sportjet with a factory reman powerhead / sticker dated 2000. I have not used the boat for over a month. Last time I took it out, the oil beeper went off one time. The oil was little low and I topped it off. No more warning beepers. Now, 5 weeks or so later, I have the boat for sale due to not using it much anymore and I want to up grade. I took it out for a test run with a potential buyer and the 4 beeps kept going off every couple of minutes, I know it pumps oil, because it has been using oil from the tank. After the (potential) buyer left, I looked at a few things. The engine tank was about 1/2 inch low, so I topped it off and started the engine up on the hose. Still beeping. I looked at oil system trouble shooting on my factory manual CD and checked the engine tank sensor, It checks good. I pulled the oil pump and turned the shaft with a drill. It works and pumps differing amounts, depending on the lever position. The drive shaft and gear appears to be ok. The shaft has practically no wear. From the manual, this engine looks to have a metal ring gear on the crank. From what I can see in the hole, the ring gear looks ok. I can't turn the shaft when inserted into the hole. I do NOT get 12 volts on the white wire going to the rotation sensor when main switch is either off or on. The manual refers to the "module". Does it mean the ECM module? Is there anything else I can do to get the 12 volts to the sensor, or do I need to replace the "module" before going any further?
