I need some input on which boat would you buy. First off, both boats are 9's. The Proline has a 175 hp Johnson Ocean Runner, the H-S has a 150 hp Ocean Runner. The Proline has a 8' beam, and weighs in at 2,250 lbs. The Hydra-Sport has a 7'7" beam and weighs 1,704 lbs. Other than that, they are about the same. The Proline has a tandem alum trailer, where the H-S has a single galvan. trailer. The H-S has dual batteries, were the Proline has a single.

Now for the money. The dealer that has the Proline is VERY proud of their boat. The average retail from NADA is $15,700. They are asking $18,900! The Hydra-Sport is right in the middle of low retail, and average retail. They are asking $14,995. I am sure I can work on both of them for a better price, but the question is, which is the better boat for the money?!

Great question. As a suggestion you may want to check out seatow's web page. At the site they have a boaters forum in which people rate their own boats. I have found the write-ups to be very frank and well worth reading.

Good luck.

BTW, are the engines fuel injected or carborated? I could be wrong but I believe that Johnson had both back then (now they are just carb's). I am asking because I have heard bad stories about the fuel injection.

If you are looking for a CC boat, you need to ask around at www.thehulltruth.com

Most of the guys there are hardcore CC fisherman and have a LOT of expertice. They'll turn you on to some lesser-known brands as well. There are a number of smaller manufacturers who make great products. The CC market is not so much of a mass production deal.

Parker
Edgewater
Mako
Cape Horn
Scout
Angler
Sea Pro
Key West
Dusky

Just to name a few. Each has advantages.

Good luck.

jocko

Also...

If that is a Hydrasport / Vector it makes a big difference. The Vector is one of the most highly regarded hulls.

jocko
