My tilt and trim is leaking up when in reverse....i can even just grap the motor and very slowing ease it upwards. It holds fine will running trimmed up and it raises and lowers fine just leaks up a little in reverse. I have checked the manual release screw and it is tight but I have not taken it out yet to check to see if the end is damaged. I do not think it would be the cylinder walls being scored to much so I am thinking it is probably just the O-ring....anyone had to deal with this before and any ideas on what other possible causes could be. Fluid is full and have ran it up and down a bunch so dont think its an air pocket. It is the fastrac system so any replacement parts have to come in the form the whole unit being replaced so want to make sure I check everything that can just be replaced first. Going to pull the manual release out this weekend and check it out(prob just replace regardless) and if that doesnt do it then go to the O-ring....I guess basically just asking if that doesnt get it what would be the next thing to try short of taking the thing apart to check the cylinder walls and all that?

Does the fluid leak out or does the trim just raise when you grab it or run in reverse? J/E sells a Oring and seal kit for the Fastrack. It was $50, and I used 3 or 4 seals to repair my PTT. I still have the rest of the seals if it breaks again.

You're on the right track. Check the manual release valve first and maybe replace it. When you put it back make sure it's good and tight. 45-55 in.lbs.

no fluid leaks it just moves up when in reverse.......i believe it is referred to as "leaking" when this occurs. Decided to wait on pops to get home from Tupelo before tearing into anything to much since it is half his boat and he is by far the better mechanic.....I dont think it is not useable as is just gotta be mindfull when backing up and do it slowly.....so just gonna fish this week since I am spring break(teacher) and we will deal with it next weekend when he gets back. Thanks for the replies.
