Howdy, I've got a 1998 Johnson 25hp (J25TELE). It has ran great for a long time. I've run this motor for almost 13 years.
Today I put it in the water and checked the pee stream like always and it was normal. However, the motor sounded a little different. Couldn't put a finger on it. I noticed that the amount of water that was exiting through the exhaust was a lot more than normal. Like I said, it was still peeling properly, but the exhaust water was spraying out like never before. I know it is suppose to let water out through the exhaust, but not like this. I am pretty sure the reason it sounded different is because the exhaust had more water than ever. The motor also vibrated more than normal, as my hand was "asleep" by the time I got to my fishing spot. That had never happen before either.
Here's what I think it might be. Seems like a gasket has gone out somewhere and allowed the cooling water to get into the exhaust housing. It that possible?
Thanks,
Ryan
