Hello guys, i am about to buy a 45 HP Commercial Johnson engine (1998)

I want to know if anybody has any info in this motor, i've been trying to research online and i can't find any info on it.

I am interested if its Long or short Shaft the problem is that i don't have serial or model number for that particular engine, the guy who is selling it to me said it was in between. ( does that even exist?) the guy is unable to measure it.

Also how much like a motor like this is worth in excellent condition according to him?

Thanks

Get the model number and post it here. There was a situation not that long ago where a seller was trying to sell a "commercial" outboard that wasn't commercial and wasn't the year being stated. We can check the model number out for you.

You need to make sure the seller isn't blowing smoke up your leg on this one.

I own a 55hp commercial 2cyl, same year as this (or maybe a '99). I bought mine from ACT in Orlando, FL. The build pump-jet outboards out of them. I had them leave mine alone, with the standard gearcase with prop.
Def. try to get that model # before you buy it. If the tag is gone either have him look or you look on the power head. There should be a freeze plug (or Welch Plug) with #'s on it. That will help us figure it out too.
