Hi guys, I'm trying to help my dad get his motor running correctly and noticed this frayed wire.
From what I've read this looks like it is a temperature sensor wire.
Situation: The motor starts and runs great but after a while it bogs down and won't go much past idle (no tach so not sure the rpms). After it sits for a while it will usually run OK again for a little while, but sometimes it won't want to start at all.
Recent Service: He had the carburetors rebuilt (professionally) and the power pack replaced. This seemed to work for a few outings, but then it started happening again.
Thoughts: I've read that these motors will go into S. L. O. W mode if they over heat, the motor definitely isn't over heating so I'm thinking this wire might be the culprit.
We won't be able to test it again for a week, and will fix this wire regardless but just wondering what you think.
