ive watched several videos on doing a compression test some have the plugs grounded and some do not. None of the vids is on this model, should i ground out the spark plug boots or is this not needed for this particular model?

Ground them all or you risk damaging the ignition system.

If you do not want to ground them you can also activate the kill switch or lanyard switch which will prevent the ignition system from even sending sparks to the plugs. Either or will do which ever you think is easier for you.

You need to ground the plugs if you use the key to turn the motor over.
Using a jumper on the solenoid bypasses the ignition and grounding is not needed.
